Scottish Art - Paintings of Scotland:
Stones of Stenness
by D. Bruce Bennett
Silent Sentinels of Stenness
Located on Mainland Orkney, the Stones of Stenness date from around the third millennium, BC. This version, executed in oil painting style, shows the lonely remains of the Stenness standing stones, which archeologists believe was once an almost square setting of standing stones.

Bruce originally painted this view of Stones of Stenness and Moody Stonehenge as a pair. Alas, they're both long gone, but you could have something very similar. Check our Standing Stones page for ideas, our commission procedure, and then start an e-mail dialogue with us. Tell us your idea for a set of standing stone paintings, and we'll go from there to create pictures of Scotland to your specs.
