Scottish Westies at Cawdor Castle
Scottish Westies at Cawdor Castle represents a typical Bennett Celtic Art commission. It's a marriage of client photos and ours, a blending of Scottish Art that Bruce has already painted with brand-new image ideas from the client, a willingness to keep listening and responding to the client all through the process, and a meeting of the promised deadline.
The client contacted us at the very end of October, after searching our site for West Highland White Terriers and finding none. Since we didn't even have our own photos of Westies, she sent photos of her four, called R-Gang, and asked for a rock wall and some thistles in her painting.
A little later, after wandering through our website, she asked for the Cawdor Castle Gardens as a background for her Westies. A few days later, she sent a photo of her Westies in a little red wagon (that she commonly uses to haul them around) and asked that it be included in the painting.
Bruce started with a replication of Cawdor Castle Gardens, painted R-Gang from the client’s photos, included white heather (behind the Westies) and thistle (in front of rock wall), and placed the red wagon (from the client’s photo) at the end of the grassy path through the garden. Though these four little Westies live in the States, they “live” at Cawdor Castle in this painting.
We sent the client a pencil sketch JPG on November 14. On December 5, we sent her first color proof JPG. By December 15, the package had arrived at a very pleased client’s home, in time for wrapping as a Christmas gift for her husband.
