Scottish Art - Paintings of Scotland:
Kirkwall, Orkney
by D. Bruce Bennett
Kirkwall Dawn
Eschewing the more predictable and touristy St. Magnus Cathedral and Bishop's Palace, Bruce chose to paint this serene view of Orkney - a view from the dining room window of our "home" in Kirkwall during the three days we stayed there in 1999.

Though Kirkwall is the capital of Orkney, looking out over the ins and outs of the North Sea, it's a remarkably calm place, as this Scottish Art reflects. The Scots' ancient heating source - the peat fire - sends smoke up and out of Kirkwall's chimneys in this early-morning, watercolor-style picture of Scotland.
This soft green and ice pink painting no doubt found a home in a similar color setting. Have you visited Kirkwall and would you like something like this to remind you of your holiday there? Maybe you have ancestry tied to Kirkwall? In either event, just check our commission process and tell Bruce if you'd like a similar piece of Scottish Art (but maybe with a different color scheme?) to grace your home's walls.
