Scottish Art - Paintings of Scotland:
Highland Cow and Castle Ruins
by D. Bruce Bennett
Castle Cow
A tightly cropped Highland cow, seemingly oblivious of the ancient castle ruins behind her, stops grazing long enough to gaze at the viewer. No doubt about it: mop-haired Highland cattle, with their characteristic auburn coats and gentle dispositions, make great subject material. (This is the umpteenth version of Highland cattle Bruce has painted. See the ones that have sold on-line on our Highland Cattle & Dogs page.)

The colors in this Scottish Art - the cool gray rocky summit and castle, the soft auburn coat of the Highland cow, and the cool-blue sky - could blend nicely into a rust and gray-blue decorating scheme. If so, just ask Bruce to create another painting, very similar to this one. Do you already have another color palette in play? Then maybe commissioning original artwork in a different color scheme, is more to your liking? Either way, just contact us.
