Scottish Art - Paintings of Scotland:
Eilean Donan Castle in Loch Duich
by D. Bruce Bennett
Reflection of Eilean Donan
If you've been to Scotland, you've very likely photographed one of the most popular Scottish castles - Eilean Donan - along with its car parks, dust bins, and tourists.

Eilean Donan is located where three Scottish sea lochs (Loch Long, Loch Alsh, and Loch Duich) meet, just a few miles east of the Isle of Skye. Undeniably romantic and often included among representative pictures of Scotland, what we see today is largely a Victorian reinterpretation of the original medieval castle, built in 1230.
Here's a piece of Scottish Art you won't get with your digital camera: a bright, cloudless day with a clear reflection of Eilean Donan in Loch Duich - with nary a tourist, dust bin, or rental car in sight. It sold to a native Scotswoman, who gave it to her daughter who was born in Scotland and visited this castle often as a child. We're betting she's hung this soft, watercolor-style painting some place where she sees it often and can relive her childhood days.
Maybe you've not romped all over the stairs and courtyards of Eilean Donan as a child, but you saw it as an adult on Scottish holiday and would like to relive that wonderful experience. Just commission Bruce to re-create this little picture of Scotland for you, in whatever size you like, to hang where you'll see it often and be transported back to Eilean Donan.

(Check our black-and-white print of Eilean Donan, too. We still have quite a few, and its $8 half-off price makes it a downright steal.)
