Scottish Art - Paintings of Scotland:
Caerlaverock Castle and Moat
by D. Bruce Bennett
Caerlaverock Castle
A "real" Scottish Castle if ever there was one, this tiny little bit of Scottish Art actually depicts the very massive, triangular-shaped Caerlaverock Castle located just south of Dumfries. It's still protected today by the same moat which enabled its 60 defenders to hold off Edward I's 3,000 English troops for two days in 1300 when it was only ten years old.

This wee picture of Scotland was just the ticket for the Scottish aficionado who bought it, saying she had very little wall space left but just had to have a Scottish castle hanging on her wall. Does that describe you, too? Then commission Bruce to paint another, very similar Caerlaverock Castle.
This one, as you can see, is executed in watercolor style, with very soft, pastel coloring. Perhaps you need something a bit more forceful and colorful to work into your décor?
Maybe you don't have the same problem as the customer who bought this - too little wall space left. Maybe you've just purchased a new house with plenty of cathedral ceilings and blank walls. Maybe you'd like to see Caerlaverock Castle in a hefty painting size, reflective of its physical size. If so, learn how you can commission art from Bruce and then contact us about your idea for your own Scottish Art.
