Scottish Art - Paintings of Scotland:
Celtic Cross in Banchory Graveyard
by D. Bruce Bennett
Celtic Cross in Banchory Mist
Mist. Mist. More mist. That's our experience with Scotland, and this picture of Scotland reflects it. Thick, gray-white mist, produced with Bruce's favored salt technique, blocks out most of the Banchory graveyard. That ubiquitous Scottish mist leaves just a few tombstones visible in the background behind a powerful, vertical Celtic cross that dominates this original Scottish Art.

This Celtic cross gravestone really does exist in Banchory, a small Deeside village, and it stands not far from the purported site of St. Ternan's 5th century Celtic learning center.
Though this Scottish Art has taken its stand in a client's home, you could commission one very like it, thoughtfully framed it to suit your décor - and hang it on the same wall with photos of your ancestors of Scottish descent. Or with an old map of Scotland. Or maybe a well framed copy of the ship's log showing your Scottish ancestor's emigration from Scotland. Or a wall hanging of your clan's tartan. This one is a striking size and dimension, but you could choose whatever size you like of this iconic picture of Scotland.
