Ever watched the 78th Highlanders reenactment drill team? Then you know what all the smoke is about in this black-and-white print from Bruce's original pen-and-ink Scottish Art. As they work their way across the parade field at Highland games, firing, re-loading, firing, reloading, it's an amazing testimony to precision drill.

Based at the Citadel, a star-shaped fort in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the 78th Highland Regiment was one of the most famous Scottish military units. Clad in MacKenzie kilts, they held sway at the Citadel from 1869 till 1871. Their 21st-century counterparts travel all over the U.S. and Canada demonstrating their military and bagpipe expertise.
