Scottish Art - Prints of Scotland:
78th Highlander Piper

by D. Bruce Bennett

Finger Action

Have you ever seen the Pipes and Drums of the 78th Highlanders perform? Yikes. Talk about stirring the blood! After watching several performances, Bruce decided to paint a tightly cropped close-up of a piper from this historically accurate Highland regimental pipe band, based at the star-shaped Halifax Citadel in Nova Scotia, Canada.

Prints of Scotland:78th highlander piper close-up

This anonymous 78th Highlander is wearing a dark green doublet, identifying him as a piper. His counterpart in Halifax Redcoat is sporting a bright red doublet which identifies him as a fighting member of the 78th Highlanders regiment.

While the original of this Scottish Art is not for sale, we still have several color prints of it for sale. We designed the print to be inexpensive to mat and frame. A standard, pre-cut mat and a standard-size frame from discount stores or hobby/art stores will complement this Scottish Art nicely. No need to have expensive custom matting and framing done, if you'd rather do it yourself.

Do you have a wedding or anniversary party coming up for a couple of Scottish aficionados? Mat and frame this smart Scottish piper for their special day, and your gift will be the talk of the party - and your friends' favorite gift. How about the piper in your life? "Finger Action" beats a tie any day.

Considering decorating your home - or just one room - in Celtic style? With "Finger Action," you’ve already got your "color palette," and you're ready to pick the paint. Do what you've been thinking about; make your home or office reflect your Scottish heritage.

This image was used by the Longs Peak Scottish Irish Highland Festival for their 2003 advertising. We created our own commemorative art poster that year and have just a handful left, if you'd rather have this image in more of a poster format.
